The Courtesy Charter guides us in daily life and commits us to conduct ourselves in a positive atmosphere everywhere. Our aspiration is that every organization and community will adopt courtesy as an important value in our culture and spread the charter to the wider public. The goal is to create a positive and pleasant atmosphere in our beloved country.

“We, the ambassadors of the Courtesy Initiative, commit to act with respect, patience and consideration of the other. We understand that change begins with us — in our behavior in the public space, on the country’s roads and across social networks. And therefore, from the belief that our actions and words have the power to echo and influence all of society, we adopt the principles of courtesy set out below as a compass for creating social change. The Power of a Smile

We commit to maintaining a positive attitude and a welcoming demeanor in every encounter. We believe that a smile is the shortest bridge between people, and that a small smile can create a big change, both in the public domain and in our daily life. "Smile at the world and it will smile back".

Respect for Diversity

We respect every person, culture, and custom with an open mind and without judgment. Our courtesy is measured by our ability to respect others precisely in areas where they differ from us.

Conversation & Listening Culture

We maintain respectful and patient language in face-to-face and over the phone. We commit to treating every service provider with respect and a welcoming demeanor, understanding that beyond the professional role stands a person with equal rights, worthy of respectful and appreciative treatment. We believe that the intensity of speech influences our environment, and we know that things said calmly are heard better.

Seeing the Others

Courtesy begins with a greeting of "Hello/Hi/Shalom" and continues with "Thank you" and "Please".

Building Bridges of Respect

We commit to respecting the customs and norms of the places we visit. We will be alert to the small details—in our conduct, speech, or payment—and will use gestures or words in the local language to express gratitude. For us, courtesy is the ability to say: "I respect the way things are done here".

Fairness and Patienace

We commit to maintaining order while waiting in line, out of respect for the time and place of others. We will maintain a reasonable distance from the person standing before us, allowing for privacy and comfort. Courtesy is the ability to wait in line with the knowledge that we are all equal before the rules and the times .

Dressing as a Respect

We respect the local dress code and customs in every place we arrive. We will show sensitivity to the requirements of the place and adjust our appearance out of appreciation for our hosts and the environment. We believe that appropriate appearance is a quiet and powerful way to express courtesy.

Leave a Mark of Courteous Behavior

We act out of personal responsibility for the cleanliness of the public space—in nature, on the street, and in hospitality venues. We will collect our trash and keep property intact, understanding that a pleasant and orderly space is everyone's right. For us, kindness is saying "Thank You" and "I care" even in the space we leave behind.

Digital Courtesy

We commit to spreading goodness on social media, avoiding offensive or aggressive expressions, and remembering that behind the screen there is also a person with feelings. Before we photograph people or share photos on social media, we will ask for permission and ensure that it is acceptable by the other side. Likewise, we will act kindly toward animals and will not harass them for the sake of a picture.

We aspire to be a living example of the values of courtesy everywhere. After creating a respectful human connection, we will proudly present our origin with the goal of spreading light and creating a positive impression of our organization and of Israel as a whole.
